Stag Photos

And a good time was had by all down in Croyde Bay on the stag do - lots of alcohol, lots of food, lots of laughs and lots of suffering ... or was that surfing.

After an introductory evening of drinking and abuse the stag party manage to get up early, pour their svelte like bodies into snug fitting wet suits and pose - all manly like (or is that just man boobs!?)

and so the intrepid group, in mid April, with an average water temperature of 9 degrees, set off to tame the wild and ferocious tempest that is that most volatile of ladies - the sea - only to be heard saying .....

Never mind Amarillo show me the way to the waves - where are they all??!!

It was flat, in fact it was flatter than flat, it was a flat thing on flat day, packaged up in a flat-pack flat box, sat on by a flat faced, flat chested, flat person shouting "get your flats here".  Or was it?  Patience is indeed a virtue all true surfers have learned to acquire and eventually the waves did pick up.  Actually the morning session was choppy and rough with small waves, but quite frankly the way I was feeling that was just as well.

In fact this was exactly how I was feeling - after far too much Gin and Tonic the night before, an early morning, a not very welcome fry up and a freezing surf session - it was all over - already.

Unfortunately I had obviously been wicked at some point and there was no rest .... we all went off to play a round of Golf to ease us through the afternoon.  At the end of which I was starting to feel slightly better - but only slightly mind.  Still I wasn't the only one ...... Stewart was so hung over he went out and bought a really silly looking pair of sunglasses!!!!

The afternoon ended with another surf session to set us up for the big night out ... and the waves had accommodatingly pickup for us as well - the best session of the weekend by far (although this was obviously taken between sets!!).

and so onto the night.  Carl found Chevvey Chase in the bar taking a break from making films, and persuaded him to join us ....

And a full meal at The Manor ..... my G&T's were not going down well - however Chevvey had hit upon the perfect remedy - large Vodka Red Bulls  .... WHHHOOOOOAAAAA

and soon we were flying with remarks like "Give Me Sex Woman" bizarrely enough said to a bloke with a camera instead of "Cheese" !!!??? ....

.... "Your Mother Works In McDonalds" apparently a popular sign language insult in the modern playground!!!! (W.E.)

And the traditional defacing of the Stag - only they all missed me and ended up drawing stupid squiggles on Step's arm instead.  By the way he is standing I think they had also missed me and got him with the much discussed "Involuntary Anal Clamping" - close shave there then!!!  I believe they tried twice with the clamping and by the looks of Stewart's expression in the background they may have got him the second time!!  Ah it was all becoming a blur at this point ......

Of course Stewart wanted to give us a song and I politely and quietly pointed out to him that it was my stag do and there would be no silly Irish singing .... thank you for the offer though!

And so to Sunday Morning - our Host, Landlord and Barman for the weekend, Barry, looked like he was suffering as much as I was - and simply shuddered as we all geared up again for our last surf of the weekend - a freezing cold slap in the face by a big wave which sucks you down and spits you out onto the shore, spluttering and moaning is the best cure for a hangover I can think of - apart from a warm bed, more sleep, Resolve, a cup or warm, sweet tea and a cuddle!!!!! - a well, beggars can't be choosers.

It just leaves me to thank Step for organiseing it and Stewart, Peter, Sam, Michael, Anthony and Carl for joining me on a great weekend  - thanks guys I had a fantastic time and see you all soon.

Phil

p.s. Apparently Step has some film footage as well - check back soon and I will get that up too.
